Kanwalpreet has more than 20 years of experience in Public Procurement in India. During this period, he has worked in procurement-related roles such as warehouse management, inventory control, human resource management, and purchase on various units of Indian Railways. He is currently involved in framing and implementing policies on Public Procurement in Indian Railways. In his previous tenure at the Ministry of Finance, he was involved in updating Procurement Manuals for the Government of India and also bringing in policy reforms.
He belongs to the Indian Railways Stores Service cadre of the 2000 examination batch.
He is a graduate in Civil Engineering from I.I.T. Delhi with a postgraduate degree in Applied Mechanics from the same University. His post-graduation thesis work was completed at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. Additionally, he also holds a professional degree in law (LL.B.).
His professional interests include understanding how public procurement can bring greater parity in the world economies. Implementing new technologies for procurement decision-making is also an area of interest.
