Sanjay Kumar

Sanjay Kumar boasts an extensive background spanning over thirty years in governance and leadership, focusing on Public Policy, Procurement, and Sustainability. As the founder of NEXGEN Procurement Solutions, he is driving transformative change in procurement and supply chain management through innovative, sustainable practices. Sanjay has played a pivotal role in shaping sustainable procurement policy for the Government of India and advises multilateral development agencies like World Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Union’s SWITCH Asia, etc. on their S/GPP projects globally.

With Master degrees from IIT Roorkee and TERI School of Advanced Studies in environmental engineering, public policy and sustainable development, he combines academic rigor with over two decades of real-world procurement experience. Sanjay has held prominent leadership positions, including serving as President of the Board of Trustees for the APRSCP (2021-24) and as a member of the Strategic Advisory Committee for the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council (SPLC).

Recognized by the United Nations for his leadership in Sustainable Procurement in the Health Sector (SPHS), he currently leads UNEP’s One Planet Network SPP Programme’s Interest Group on Sustainable Procurement in Construction/Infrastructure. As the author of the pioneering book “Understanding Sustainable Public Procurement,” Sanjay continues to shape global discourse and drive impactful change in sustainable procurement worldwide.
